Bats is the mammal. And Bats can fly. There is about 30 kinds of the Bats in the Japanese cave. In all of the world, there is about 2,000 kinds of the Bats.
Many kinds of the Bats length is 5~10 centimeters, and be about fifth as large as length if Bats extend wings. The weight of the Bats is about 6 grams. By the kind of the Bats, Bats eat insects and nuts. The dropping of Bats are called "Guano," is important nutritious food for other animals lived in cave.
Bats is Noctural Animal. During the day bats hang on the ceiling of the cave, resting and napping. At nightfull, however, they leave the cave to feed, eat mosquite, moths and other night-flying insects.
Bats can fly by using 'Echlocation'. Bats can fly in the dark freely by emitting Ultra-high frequency sounds. This is known as 'Echolocation.'
Bats hibernate for economizing on energy in the cold season when the number of insects as their feed is decreasing.
